Santa Cecilia Violin
Guarneri del Gesù 1743 “Carrodus” model violin, built for the 2020 Santa Cecilia International Lutherie Competition, which was canceled due to the pandemic.
This violin was built for the 2020 Santa Cecilia International Lutherie Competition in Rome, an event that was ultimately canceled due to the pandemic. Based on the Guarneri del Gesù 1743 “Carrodus” model, it is characterized by a warm, bright, powerful, and balanced sound. Special care has been taken in every phase of its construction, highlighting details, symmetries, and ergonomics. It is comfortable for both the left hand and the shoulder, making it a noble and easy-to-play instrument.
This instrument features a top crafted from Fiemme Valley red spruce, characterized by a fine, regular grain that gently widens toward the edges, contributing to both its aesthetic beauty and its acoustic quality. The back, constructed from two pieces of medium-to-fine flamed Balkan maple, displays a regular, straight shape that enhances its visual elegance. The scroll and ribs are also made of high-quality Balkan maple, ensuring uniformity of materials and great structural stability. The varnish, applied in a Cremonese style, combines orange-red with amber nuances, giving the instrument a warm and sophisticated appearance.
